LOCAL AND THROUGH FREIGHTS DECREASE.
FOUR STEAMERS ARRIVE. IN
BALLAST.
During the 4 hours ended at s 2. FIT, yesterday, there were 18 vessels which came into port, of Freights which, 11 were British. discharged here and carried for perts beyond Hong Kong showed a decrease, particularly freights for Hong Kong, which have fallen by
Almost 200 per cent.
Imports of general merchandise into the Colony amounted to 5,796 tons, of which, 5,425 tons wero car- The ried by British steamers
best returns were shown by two British vessels. The s.s. 'hempenh arriving from Saigon and Tourane unloaded 1,700 tons and the City of Winnipeg, from Sydney and Shang- Invalso discharged 1,015 tons.
Through freights were manifested on 7 steamers, and although amount ing to a dve figure total were still below the average. The total ton- age carried was 14,508.tons, of which, 5,129 tons were registered by s British steamers.

The as. Morea, which came into part yesterday morning, brought the Home mail and parcels Fi Sues. The vessel carried a total of 28 bags of mails, of which 131 bags were for Hong Kong, St bags being She from the United Kingdom. ako brought 182 bags of, parcels for Hong Kong, and carried 31 bags of mail for ports beyond Hong Kong.

THREE MAIL LINERS ARRIVE.
HEAVY PASSENGER LISTS FOR HONG KONG AND
PORTS.
Three mail liners arrived bere yesterday. They were the two P. & steamers Murea and Malev, and the Messageries Maritimes liner d'Artagniku.
The Moren arriving from London and bound for Yokohama earried about 150 first and second class pas. sengers, of whom, about 30 were disembarked here.
