HONG KONG SHIPPING.

WEEK-END RETURNS.

General cargo imported into the Colony during the 24 hours ended at 9 am on Sunday amounted to 10,443 tons These were landed from v vessels, of which, five British steamors discharged 3,621 tons. The two best returns were registered by the Norwegian steamers Hellas and Maud. The former arriving from Bong- kok and Hoihow brought 2,200 tons and the latter brought 2,000 tons from Saigon.

There was, however, a decided slump in through freights. Out of 9 arrivals, only three steamers carried cargo for parts beyond. The total tonnage manifested on the three atenters amounted to 3,603 tons, of which, 3,140 tons were in 2 British ships. The s Danja (British) had 3,000 ton's loaded at Birkenhead and Sin- Eapore.

December 12th. Chungkung, Chinese str., 447 tons, Capt Kwok Shany from Tourane, with a general cargo, lying at buoy No. Cal. ZYan La: Ca Hangi French str., 600 ton, Capt. L Cruchot, from Haiphong and Fort Bayard, with a general cargo, lying at busy No. 45-Messgerigs Mari times. Lok Sus, British str., 1,015 tons, Capt.

The returns for the 24 hours ended at J. B. McCow, from Sandakan and Jesselton, with frewood and general 9 am yesterday showed heavy 'freighta cargo, lying at buoy No, C37.-Car-carried for both Hong Kong and perta michael & Clarke,

beyond. Out of 13 arrivals, 18,701 teas Malaya, Dabish motor ship, 5,311 tons, of general merchandise were discharged Capt. N P. Kruse, from Singapore, here, with 11,158 tons carried by 6 British which part she left on December 5th, vessels. The two best returns were show- with a general cargo, lying at Kowed by the 5.3. Ranella (British) which loon Wharl-John Manners & Co. West Chopaka, American str., 4,390 tons, Capt. C. H. Bruna, from Los Angeles and Swatow, with kerosene and gene- ral cargo, lying at Stonecutters.- Swayne & Hoyt Inc.

brought 7,330 tons from Balipapan and the s.8. Tjikarang (Dutch) unloaded 4,346 į tons from Sourabaya and Batavia.

Through freights for the same period under review showed an increase of over 700% over the previous day returns. There were a total of 24,00 tons mani- fested on the 13 vessels passing through Hong Kong. The three best returns were on the a.. Tjikarang, which carried 4,364 tons from Sourabaya and Batavia, the Sad Maru, from Kobe and Shanghai bad 3,528 tons and the Takliwa (British) from Caleutta and Singapore also mani- fested 3,426 tons.

There were a total of 64 vessels in port, of which 6 were British.

The number of deck passengers entered into the Colony during the 24 hours which, 306 were brought by the Hai Hong ended at 9 a.m. on Sunday was $60, of (British) from Foochow and Swatow. Yesterday's returns showed that there were 2,703 deck passengers entered Hong Kong. The Takliva from Calcutta and Singapore brought 1,201, and the Scang Bee from. Rangoon and Singapore brough: 1,138.

For carrying 17 passengers more than alowed by her licence, the mistresss of a coolie boat was fined $10 at the Marine G. F. Hole. Caurt yesterday morning by Lt.-Comdr.
