The City of Cairo, which arrived bere on Saturday, left. Southampton, where she picked up more of her passen. gers, on September 25th.

Previous to that date she had visited Antwerp, Bremen and Rotterdam for cargo only. Further cargo was taken aboard at Marseilles, including a large consignment of cast steel oil pipes for Yokohama, and tiles for Singapore.

The voyage from England was notable for an unusual spell of fine weather except for the four days previous to her arrival here...........

The City of Cairo is due at Shanghai on November 9th; Kobe, November 13th, and Yokohama, November 17th. then returns vid Hongkong, Singapore and Colomba to Port Said.

A good many passengers are expected to board at the last named place and the ship then sails direct for New York, after which she will set course for Liverpool.

The Right Hon. J. Ramsay MacDonald, M.P., in the course of a speech to steel amelters and tinplate workers at Briton Ferry, said that he would like to know what the Government would do to the mine-owners if they refused its latest offer and the miners accepted it. Would it coerce the owners to accept the tribunal? If so, why did it not coerce fortnight age to accept a national agreement The Government that simply stood by and said, "The owners are well entrenched behind money and credit, and the men and women have stiff backs and determined mind; let the dispute go on, week after week, month after month,"

was deserving of the most. severe censure by the nation. In regard to coal prices, they were fred, not by what it cost to bring the coal to the customer's door with a reasonable profit, but by the person who sent it to the customer saying "How much can I get out of it?" That, said Mr. MacDonald, was an immoral price.
