A report was received from Cheung Chow yesterday of another junk disaster as a result of which twelve Chinese loat their lives.

At 0 a.m. yesterday there were 68 vessels in the harbour, of which were British. During the previous twenty four hours Efteen vessels arrived, vif., six British, one American; one Italian, two Dutch, one Japanese, one Portuguese and two Chinese. The departures during the same period came to ten, viz., one British and one American for Manila, three British for Amoy, one Portugeso for Macao, one Japanese and one Dutch for Shanghai, one Chinese for Sha U Chung and one Chinese for Kwang Chow Wan. Glearance amounted to six, vi.. one British and ope Japanese for Takso, two Japanese for Shanghai, one Japanese for Keelung and one French "for Kwang Chow Wap.

Sub-Inspecter Stimson informed the Court that the peacock, which was in- variably on the walls of the Kowloon City Police Station, appeared to have. attracted the attention of the defendant who threw a number of stones at the bird. Sub-Inspector Smith, hearing the noise, went down and arrested the de- fendant.

A wireless message, dated October 4th, has been received at the Harbour Office from the ss. Menado Mary which states that there is a wrecked junk in Lat. 20.10 N., Long. 110.37 E. Ten feet of mast is. showing above water, and the wreck is dangerous to navigation.
Another wireless message was received from, the .. Harunasan Maru which stated that derelict junk was sighted in about Lat. 20.94 N., Long. 110.81 E. The wreck shows about three feet of mast above water and is dangerous to navigation.

Now that the s.a. Sai On has resumed her place on the Hongkong-Macao run, the ss. Tung On, her companion steamer on the run, has taken her place in Tafkoo Dock for the usual overhaul.

Some time ago an attempt was made to dispose of the s.s. Zing Nam by public auction, ordered by the Court. At the time, it will be recalled, there was no de mand for the vessel, and the was with- drawn from the market.
Another attempt to dispose of her is to be made on Monday, November 1 wben she will be put up for public auction (again by order of the Court) at Mesers. Lammert Bros. Auction Rooms, Duddell Street.
