As indicated, there was a considerable Tamperstars increase in tonnage and freights shown Wind Direction... in yesterday's shipping tatement, but the increase in freight only applied to weather... that destined for porta other than Hong kong. With regard to this there was ari excellent return, the eight vessels carry- ing the freight for other ports each re turning four-figure entries and in four instances their totals varied from 4,000 tons to over 8,000 tons. On the other hand, despite that there were four more arrivals than on the previous day, Hong kong cargo considerably dropped, going down to the extent of over 7,000 tons. The reason for this was that all vessels made a poor "showing, the returns of British vessels, with the exception of one being exceptionally low, the exception bringing over 1,000 tons, and incidentally the highest individual entry of all ships for this port. From the returna of the vessels arriving in port after the mörn. ing statement was completed it is in- dicated that Hongkong cargo will show a considerable increase to-day; while freight for other ports should also be fair.
