With four fewer arrivals than "on the previous day, yesterday's ship ping statement-recorded a total decrease in freight carried of 17,927 tons,, com- pared with the figures for the previous twenty-four hours. However, the de- erense was only in respect to freight for ports hegond, this showing a drop of 10,456 tons. compared with the corre- sponding perind: while Hongkong cargo increased by 4,528 tons. This increase was entirely due to two heavy freights carried by a couple of British steamers and by vessel of another flag. but.
