Nobody, for instance would dream of applying the appellation "daft.” to sach "Jock " In clever goalwatcher"

Ewart, yet every football enthusiast knows that the Airdrie goalkeeper is one of

the funniest footballers in the game. "Jeck's" manseriams, unorthodox methods and amuling antics when "watching" his charge ate a continual source of merriment to the spectators. Time and again onlooker's have declared "It was as good as a pantomime to watch Jock Ewart in goal!" Why, quite recently, from a public platform a cez- tain well-known sporting cleric confessed that he had as much fun watching Jock Ewart as ever he had listening to Harry Lauder."

OUTSTANDING PERSONALITIES,

As a matter of fact, the good old game has always, had its outstanding personalities guarding the uprights- goalkeepers whose tunniosities rarely let their side down, and whose comic by-play and unusual gymnastic feats did much to relieve the high tension and excite ment of many a hard-fought contest.

It doesn't require a tax on one's memory to recall me of the amusing. episodes associated with the name of one of the most comical of custodians-the one and only Rab MFarlane. Rab was nothing if not entertaining. As is com- mon knowledge. Rah was a man of many clube-Greenock Morton, Celtic, -Third Lanark, Aberdeen, and Grimsby all claiming him at one time or other.
