[BY ARGUS.)
Now that a the week-end is promised by the Clerk of the Weather, the second extra meeting, under Hongkong Jockey Club auspices, should attracts large crowd to the fare-course at Happy Valley
this afternoon.
The first event is the Colonial Stakes (8 furlongs), for which the following may be saddled: Daisy Dahlia (Mr. Nemazce), Craigavad (Mr. Sewell)," Boston" (Mr. Stanton), Melody Dahlia (Mr. Brodie), Fireworks (Mr. Gordon), District Call (Mr. Davië), Scorched Primrose (Mr. Sugden). TENNIS LEAGUE. " GOOD HATCHES AT EAST POINT.
The weather bids fair to be good enough to-day for matches to be played off and a start will be made in the League. "A" DIVISION.
Two very interesting matches will be played off at East Point. C.R.C. will be receiving the Kowloon C.C. The Chinese are taking, no chances and are putting out their strongest team this afternoon which will be na follows:-Ng Sze Kwong and Ng Sze Cheung, M. K. and M. W. Lo, Yew Man Taun and Ho Ka Lau. Kow. loon will rely principally on the Fincher brothers who recently sprang a surprise on Yew Man Tsun and Ho Ka Lau in the Open Championships, S. E. Green and N. Trambitzky.
The other match will be between the * (Mr. Doyle), Barley Grass (Mr. Cob-Indian Recreation Club and the Boog-

kong Cricket Club. The visitors will be represented by three well-balanced pairs and include A. B. Cassumbhoy and L A Razack, S. A. Rumjaha and S. A. Hussain, all of whom have appeared in the local Championships. A very good and even match should result
I am unaware bf the intentions of the owners, of course, and am making up the fields from knowledge gained from various sources. It is possible that only Daisy Dahlia will be started from the Chater stables, in which case Mr. Nemazee. will have the mount I imagine, however, that the stable woukl rather slepend upon Melody Dahlia despite his light impost in the second race. In any event, I shall plump for Sir Paul's selected to win, with Fireworks and The Gowk as the

Kiders.
The Commonwealth Handicap ("A class, 6 furlongs) may attractHome Call (Mr. Davic). Rothesay (Lt.Cdr. Thompson), The Regent (Mr. Brodie), The Goblin (Mr. Ralph), and Bay of Bellingham (Mr. Stanton).
Should September (Mr. Brodie) and Melody Dahlia (Mr. Nemazce) bè started, I shall expect them to fill the first two! places If The Regent is started, Sep- tember will run in the Aggregate Stakes. As both Melody and September are doabtlul staters, Home Call, Bay of Bellingham and The Regent may finishi in the order. named.

If Arabian Parrot is sent to the post, I understand the mount will be offered to Mr. Reidy. Sandpiper may swell the field, but I have no idea who will have the event of Melody Dahlia the mount being started, unless it be Mr. Sowell.
The Polo Scurry ( furlongs), comes third on the list, for which post entries will be accepted.
I can only recommend Hailsham and Shot III.
Next comes the Aggregate Stakes, which will probably attract Saligia (Mr. Doyle), Bluegrass (Mr. Stanton), Total! Abstinence (Lt.Cdr. Thompson) and possibly September (Mr. Brodie).
At Kowloon, the United Services will meet the Japanese in the third match of the "A" Division. The defending holders should win, as the local Japanese have not shown up well in doubles.
Other matches down for decision are as follows:--

· Hartington was not much impressed, and only agreed to propose an official amendment because he heard that a private member of republican tastes was preparing an amendment. Hartington based his objection on the score of taste. It is perfectly true that an addition may be made to a noble structure which shall in no way change its character, but even make it more harmonious. But if an old English castle g you put to Grecian portico or an Italian façade, venture to think that there will be a change." In spite of a fine speech by Disraeli, there was some reaction outside. The Lords were not enthusiastic, «Harting- ton's fear that the great title of King might be swallowed up by the borrowed atyle of Emineror was held by many, and if became known that the Prince of Wales, completing his Indian tour, was exceedingly angry, that no reference or explanation had been offered to him. ↑ He denied that India-Wanted an “Em- pire, and he was only made more angry when Dizzy suggested that he himself might be known na “Imperial.” High- nega,"

Sir Henry was a friend of the Prince, and the Queen was almost persuaded to believe that, for the first „tíme, în many years, a Prince of Waler
