OBITUARY.
CAPT. F. H. WALLACE OF SHANGHAI.
Capt, Frederick H. Wallace, a familiar gurn in Shanghai, passed away last werk at his residence, 158, Edinburgh Road. The late Capt. Wallace was born, in London on November, 1818, and was, therefore, in his eth year.
The N. Daily News states that he served in France during the Franco- German War in 1870 in a medical capa city and he joined the China Merghants
S. N. Co. in 1873.
In her report, Dr. Minett said that the premises and the health of the pupils had heen well-cared for and satisfactory.
In the report of the Inspector of Schools, he said that the building and equipment were good, and the discipline was very good. He also said that the staff was adequate the written work, very good :' dictation, satisfactory throughout and the gymnastics, well taught by a capable, instructor:

Mr. D. H. Ellis, the owner of a small sailing yacht, and three of his friends.. Messra H Campkin, G. Kelly, and, B. Young, bad a thrilling experience whilst yachting near Stonecuttere on Monday.
