'The master of the (British) from Calcutta and Singapore reported to the Harbour Office yester day that he had received a wireless message for assistance from the 8.4. Clare Jebarn (the Danish steamer which went asbore off the entrance to the Saigon! River). This grounding was reported yesterday, when i was stated that the Chura Jebsen gnt off without assisaner and that the help of the Autsang was not_required.]

The Harbour Office will be closed to morrow, Saturday and Monday, April id, 3rd, and 5th. except for the entries and Clearance Office, which will be open from 1 to noon, on April 3rd and 5th.

A passenger junk aniling from the! Kowloon Godown.wharf to Hongkong on Tuesday, collided with the steam launch Vancouver, causing damage to the junk to the extent of $140. Luckily there were no casualties.

At the Marine Cours yesterday, be-) fore Lieut.-Commander G. F. Hole, R.N.. a junk licensee was prosecuted for (a) not reporting on arrival on March 20th and (b) leaving port without clearance from the Harbour Master. The man pleaded not guilty. Evidence for the prosecution showed that the junk arrived at Shodkiwan on March 13th and was not there on March 14th. In answer to the Marine Magistrate, the junk inspec tor said the date March 20th was given in the first place because that was the date shown in the junk's Heenee book. The defendant said that he knew nothing about the matter as he was not on board at the time and further was not master At that time. He was found" not guilty" and discharged.

At the same Court, another junk-master was fined 10 an each count when charged with the same offer.com agninat the regulations.

A boat-master was fined $20, with the alternative of three weeks' hard labour, for dredging in the Naval anchorage; while boat-mistress was fined 810, or ten days' hard labour in default, för making fast to the sa. Kutsang while under way. Two Chinese were fined 810 each for being on the same steamer with, out permission.

The total number of deck passengers entered for the 24 hours ended at 9 am. yesterday was 1,702, of which 7,237 were carried by the as-Fan Overstraten from Amoy.
