SHIPPING NOTES.

The sa. Paul Beau (belonging to the Canton Navigation Company) which with' the .. Charles Hardouin has been. employed on the Hongkong Macao run since the strike, has now been taken oft in order to lay up. The officers and crow have signed off and the articles closed. The Charles Hardouin was laid up some time ago. It is understood that one of the reasons for the laying up of theap vessels is due to the service already being amply covered by other steamers, in view of the fact that very few people are travelling.

The as Sunning fi taking the place of the as Chuen Chow asst week on the Hongkong-Macao run while the latter vessel is in dock.

The shipping statement for yesterday showed that the total number of vessels in the harbour at 9 am. numbered, 81, of which 40 were British.

The arrivals for the twenty-four hours ended at 9 am. yesterday numbered 'ten, viz-three British, five Japanese, are French and one Chinese. Three arrivals .were from coast ports. Departures. "over | the mme period numbered four: white there were four clearances.

Of the cargo entered for Hongkong, more than half was carried in British vessels, namely 3,150 tona. The beaviest entry was 2,550 tons of timber and rice by a British vessel; while the next best entry was 1,100 tona by a Japanese vessel. The remainder of the entries were, all under 1,000 tonel

between 6.80 and 9 p.m. and on 18th and 4th between 6.30 and 11 p. From March 1st to March 8th they will be burnt between 6.30 and 9 p.m. and on March 11th and 18th between 6.30 and 11 p.m.

The report of entry of the O.Š.K. - Altai Maru, which grounded in Fa Tau Mun Paas on Sunday morning tas has been received at the Harbour Office and states that the vessel is from Nagoya and Moji with 315 tins of general cargo, 40 bags of mail and 5,608 pas of cargo for ports beyond. The dita Maru had not been re-foated yesterday, in spite of all the efforts made this week to get her of.

The total number of deck passengers entered for the twenty-four hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday numbered 29.

The only information to hand poster- day with regard to the two B. & S. chips. the unan and Kwriyang, which are stranded in the Hainan Straits, was that they are still ashore.

Bengal Muru (Japanese) from Calcutta aud Singapore with 602 tons of pig iron, gunnies and general cargo and 6,749 tona for porte beyond; the aa Destin Maru (Japanese) from Keelung with 1,100.tous of general cargo; the s.a. Ayato Maru (Japanese) from Swatow with 20 tons of vegetables and fruit; the e.s. Tonkin (French) from Haiphong and Fort Bayard with 200 tons of general cargo and mail and the 8. Pon Sang (Chinese) from Kwang Chow Wan with 450 tons of general cargo.
