The R.M.S. Empress of Hussin, Capt. A. J. Hosken, R.N.R., Commander, will leave here for Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., vi Shanghai, Nagasaki. Kobe and Yokohama. at 1 a.m. on February 5th.

The RM.S. Empress of Canada ar. rived at Shanghai. yesterday at 1.30 am., leaves to-day (Monday), at 10 a.m., and is due at Kobe on Wednesday the 27th. inst, at 4 p.m.

The week-end shipping statement show ed that the total number of vessela in the harbour at am. on Saturday was 78, of which 30 wore British; while at the same hour yesterday there were 71 vessels in the harbour of which 37 were. British,

A notice in the Harbour Office, issued by the Customs authorities at Shanghai, under date of January 18th, reads. Notice is hereby given that on and after February 1st, a large red flag will be exhibited from the masthead or the tide signal mast at Woosung Light-house when, in the opinion of the officer in charge, the number of junks manoeuvring in the channel of Woosung in such a to make navigation through the entrance of the Huangpu difficult. A similar, Ang will be exhibited at "the masthead of the signal mast on the Customs property at HE STRAMSHIP Lay Road. This signal is to be taken to meda that vessels intending to invigato the channel in question should pressed. with extreme caution.

News has come to hand that the A.. Fah Shan, which was captured by pickets whilst on her way from Kwang Chow Wan to Hongkong some months ago, is shortly to be released by the Canton authorities. The Wah Shana sent back to Canton last week and is berthed alongside the Government wharf await
