SHIPPING NOTES. ·
THE HONGKONG. DAILY PRESS, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 31ST, 1925
A Notice from the Customs authorities at Tientsin intimates that the ice-breaker acting as a light-ship is liable to be absent from her station during rough weather until such time as the weather improves.
Ships using the Sulphur Channel are requested to proceed at slow speed as the wash from shipping is causing incon venience to Port Development Works.
The master of the Fook Sang reported to the Harbour Office that on the voyage from Calcutta eid Singapore to Hong kong, bad weather was encountered. The voyage commenced with a strong monsoon and heavy seas. The weather became moderate later, but then increased to a gale with heavy seas nearing the China Coast..
The Harbour Office will be closed on Friday and Saturday, January 1st and 2ad, except the Entry and Clearance
Uffies which will open from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and the Junk Office from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
The new river steamer of the Tong- kong. Canton and Macao Steamboat Co, the RB. Taishan, will take her place on the Hongkong-Macuo run on Saturday, and on her return the young aftern000 from Maçao, the s.Sui An, it is under- stood, is to be laid up for the time being. The Taishan is to take over the morning trip from the Kinshan and in addition to an excussion trip on Saturday will also make one on Sunday; On Saturday the Taishan leaves from the Canton Steamers' whart. On that day an official reception is to be held on board the new steainer on arrival at Macao, which II. E. the Governor of Macao is to attend.
00
The s.s. Lung Shan, which only took her place on the Hongkong-Canton run,
Monday, replacing the Honam grounded on the bar at Tai Shak at 8.45 on Tuesday morning, after learing Can- ton 18 .. She was unable to re-float until noon, owing to it being low water when she went aground. The rising tide lifted her clear and she reached Hongkong just after 8 p.m., three hours behind her scheduled time.
The R. M.S. Express of Scotland (Canadian Pacife Liner) is already on her round-the-world cruise, having left New York on December 4th bound for Mediterranean porte. She has over 400 tourists on board who spent Christmas in Palestine and will celebrate the New Year in Egypt, in followed by a second New Year festival in China on February 13th.
