THE PATRONAL FESTIVAL.

Over the signatures of the Chaplain (the Rev. T. B. Powell) and the Secre tary of the Church Body (Mr. W. T. Pattendin), the following circular letter has been issued

"We should like to remind you that the Patronal Festival of the Cathedral takes place on the last Sunday of this year. It is the English practice to de- dicate churches to particular saints, 50 our own Cathedral is dedicated to St. John. Once a year we think especially of his work-particularly the writing of the gospel according to St. John-and our own responsibility for its furtherance. As we have our particular Festival on a Sanday only once in seven years, we are anxious to make the most of St. John's Day, December 27th, and we invite you to help us.

It has been, decided to make the Patronal Festival a Thanksgiving Sun. day. In these days of stress and strain it is very easy to forget how richly God bas blessed us. There are the spiritual blessings the beauties of nature with which we are surrounded: gifts of good health, and the material benefits of pre- vious years.

"We invite you therefore to come to. the Cathedral on Sunday, December 27th, to take part in the services, to thank God for His blessings to you and yours, and to this Colony in the past years: and to pray for a speedy end to the troubles in China.
