carried out by Mr. P. M. Hodgson, with Mr. Oliphant in charge of the white. flag.

In the first event, Janibu was a fractional better favourite than Valians, and return- ed a dividend of $19.3. In the second [event slightly better than even money was obtainable about Saligia, Lae winner, oving to the strong support for Blotting Paper, who finished second. Saligia covered the mile in 2.05.9-5 and won as he liked, but bonours are due to Dictator Dublin who Enished third with 367 Tbs. in the saddle, Mr. Buck, on Gypsy Lote, Beat a better favourite in Seattle and his followers collected $8.50 on each ticket.

Grey Morn carried Chicago off his legs, after the first 6 furlongs of the Ribbles dale Stakes and landed the odds laid on' him, the dividend being 88.4C."

The Novices race provided the surprise of the day. Out of 1,608 tickets, 997 were invested on Saracen; Auchcare och carried 212 and Two. Pairs 145. The winner turni el up in Denon Boy, on whom Mr. Ralph rude quite a well-judged race and gained Mr. Taggart his second victory, and pre- vided followers of the scarlet jacket with a dividend of $100.30. Saracen is evidenti ly ntally unreliable and Mr. Buck deserves all sympathy.

In the penultimate event, Beldorney Star showed that he has recovered bis fore, by winning handily from Gaudie and Valiant. The favourite was Mowgli, who finished fourth.

In the last event Grey Knight, after long spell of bad luck, carried Mr. Pollock to victory and earned a dividend of 842:20. The race was run at a false pare, but the winner covered, the last quarter in 30.1-5. Golden Chrysanthe- mum was carried out by Cariosity Shop, but secured second place.

Poppy Leaf was installed a red-hot favourite, but could only finish fourth.
