SHIPPING NOTES.

Un her arrival in port, the China Merchants' steamer Hainchang brought in a report that there had been a colli sion between her and the Indo-China... Fau Sang on May 10th It is stated that both vessels subsequently reached port without much difficulty.

SHIPPING MOVEMENTS.

The R.M.S. Empress of lustralia left Vancouver for Hongkong, i Japan ports and Shanghai on May 14th, and is due to arrive here on June 3rd.

The 1.M.S. Empress of Cavan arríý. nd at Shanghai on May 17th at 8 am, leares to-day at 9.30am and is uue at Kobe on May 20th, at novu.

The RM.S. Empress of Russia arrived nt Shanghai on May 17th at 6.30 am, leaves today at 5.30 p.m., and is due at Hongkong on May 30th at 9 am. She will berth at pier No. 5, Kowloon Wharf. She leaves Hongkong on May 21st at 5 p.m., end is due at Manila on May 23rd at 7am. She will leave Manila on May

24th at 4 p.m., and is due at Hongkong on May 28th at 7 a.m. The vessel-leaves Hongkong on May 20th at noon.

The NDL & Elberfeld will arrive

from Shanghai on her homeward bound voyage, this morning, the 18th inst., and will all for Europe at 5 pm today.

As the Hongkong-Wuchow steamer Wing Ping was leaving the harbour on Friday, her shaft was damaged and the bad to return to dock.

The Oceanie Steamship Company has completed arrangements for its mail steamers plying between Sydney and San Francisco to include Suvaji), in their itinerary.

Mr. V. A. Sproul, managing agent for Australia of the line, recently went o Suva, and has made final arrangements for callings at the new port from June onward.
