HUMILIATION DAY.

"The National Humiliation Day for the Chinese in Hongkong was observed on the afternoon of May ath at the VM.C.A auditorium under the auspices of the local students union, when the exercises commenced with the repetition of;

The Republic of China is ours, fer 400.000.000 brothers and sisters to have, govern, and enjoy. You, I and he are each a citizen and we all must. do our duty towards the Republic."

Following the singing of the Chinese nä. tional anthem, Mr. C. O.. Chan, M. A.. president of the China Commercial Com pany, delivered the principal address of the orcusion. A silence of two minutes out of respect to the late. Dr. Sun Yat Sen with all standing was observed, before i the lato honographic speech from Chinese patriat was heard.

PUBLIC GARDEN FAIR.

The Chinese Musical Club of long- keng, an organization of amateurs, added to the attraction of the fair at the First Publie Garden in Canton, which began on May 8th, in aid of the funds of the Dr. Sun Yat Suo Memorial Society. The Hongkong Chinese Musical Club 'render- ed only the best of the Chinese music, their aim being to preserve the pieces which are worth while. Young people from the best homes and leading arms of the Chinese community in Hongkong sup- port this organization

RAILWAY LOAN?

To enable the Canton-Kowloon Rail- road, Chinese Section, to resume through express service, it is understood that foreign bank in Hongkong, will facilitate the Chinese management with a loan which will itiprove the line and the rolling stock so as to hasten the return to normal traffic, according to reports in the verna cular press of Canton. The Canton- Hankow Railroad, Kwangtung Section, is also negotiating for a loan, $300,000, from the Kwang Shiu Syndicate, the Guilde Commercial Journal states. The labour union and members of the Kuomin tang connected with the line, for some reason, are opposing the conclusion of the loan, complaining that the railroad administration is allowing anreasonable concessions to the syndicate in return for such a small loan of $300,000.
