Mr. E. Glossop Such presided on December 18th at the Central Y.M.C.A. Tottenham-court-road, London, over the anndal meeting of the Cab Drivers Bene- volent Association. For the pensions of £20 per anuum there were eighty ap pleants, for whom there were only four- teen vacancies. Among those successful were mer rejoicing in such nickranes ás "Nourishing, Stout, "Ted Luck of St. James's-square, "Turkey of Waterloo," and "Tyko of the Metropole.'

One of the older pensioners, 3r. Thomas Hall, 72, had some amusing recol lections of Leadon so long ago as the old Cremorne Gardens days. In his time he drove the late King Edward when he was Prince of Wales, and at least one had had the present King as passenger. Another fare was the famous Mrs. Prodgers, who always made a point of paying a little less than the actual fare and leaving the cabby to summon her for the balance.

Another veteran, "Mr. Charles Woods (Woodie of St. John's-wood), started driving in 1897, and was proud of the fact that he occe bought for five guineas what he described as the fastest horse that ever drew a cab. Woods is 77, and
