LEAGUE OF NATIONS GRADING.
Dr. C. E. Lim, of Peking, read a paper entitled "League of Nations grading of Far East."
The lecturer maid that in these days of rapid transportation zu means of com- munication the control of infectious dis eases, instead of being a matter of purely local significance, has become a subject of international concern. Improved means «communication has resumed in bring ing cities and nations into closer touch, but this has not been without its attend ant evils, as it has introduced diseases iato territories in which they were formerly non-existent.

The serious cutbreak of Sre which occurred at Woosung Street, Kowloon. on January 4th, was recalled yesterday afternoon, when Me. W. Hamilton, sitting with a Jury at Kowloon, opened
inquiry regarding it and the death of the nine victims, whose dead bodies were recovered from the, burning, building.
The evidence given showed that just before Eve u'clock on January 4th a seri ous fire broke out at G1, Woosung Street,
