Our last Report was dated the gad instart and in the interval a fair yohime of business has been transacted at rates which have not shewa juuch variation. Interest was largely centred in Green Island Cement shares which have been freely dealt in and shew a marked in- provement.
Banks:-Hongkong & Shanghai Banks have been ruling strong and the price has made further bendway to $1205. The London quotation remaits unaltered at £139 (Middle)"
Marine & Fire Insurances:--Cantons were reported sold at $760, but more shares are obtainable at the rate. Unions have been done at $260 at which they close steady. Hongkong Fires continue their upward movement and have been bought at $15. Yangtze could be placed ut KU

Shipping: Star Ferries strengthen- ed in the curly part of the week to $140, bat have since eased to 8138. Douglas Steamships were sold down to 56. EK.C. & M. Steamboats after having receded to 807 recovered to $371. Tugs & Lighters have come to business at $14/1 Union Waterbants are stendy at $152.
Refineries:-China Sugars are ruling weak with probable sellers at 887. Mala- bons at 841 continue neglected..
Oils And Mining:-Shell Transports were active and finished up with buyers at 88 ex the dividend of 2 just paid. Deals were again made in Benquets at .35 Langkats (Combined), have receded

Electric Companies:-Hongkong Tram ways have fluctuated between 54 and 8542, the market closing nominal at the former quotation. Hongkong Electrics shew an improvement over the week, the rate having advanced from 44 to $48, with busicess reported at 8451 at the close China Lights (Combined) have been negotiated up to 23.
Docks Wharves & Godowns: Hong- kong & Kowloon Wharves have further weakened and have changed heads at $212. Hongkong and Whampoa Docks bave again been booked at 3751. The following full details regarding the Customs Revenue for last year were issued at Peking:-
The Customs Revenue for 1021 amounts in round figures to Hk. Tls. 09,550,000, an increase of Tis, 0,050,000 over the pre- vious highest collection, namely in 1993.
The sterling equivalent of the 1924 collection at an average archange of 3/7-15/18 is £12,732,700, compared with £11,025,100 for the 1923 collection at an exchange of 3/52.
The following table shows in round figures the collection for 1994, with in- creases or decreases at the principal ports:-
