Edinburgh, defeating the holder, Ted (Kid) Lewis, decisively on points after a thrilling twenty rounds battle. After the fight was over it was learned that Lewis had sustained an injury to his left hand, the accident occurring, his seconds. stated, in the fourth round. The hand It was swollen to twice its usual size. is safe to say that very few, if any, mem. bers of the vast crowd estimated at 20,000, were aware of the injury, for Lewis fought on without complaint, and although he relied principalty upon the power of his right, he stalled so frequent ly with his left that it was impossible to say, whether or not he was labouring under a handicap. Making due allow- ance for the injury, however, there need be no hesitation in neclaiming the Scot as a worthy holder of the titis, and, be is such a progressive Foungster that it is difficult to believe he will ever, yield it again to the Londouer. Lewis would have to discover the dixit of youth and regain that vigeur which won him the title of the smashing, dashing, crash- ing Kid Milligna improves with every fight. He quickly settled to his

BUGAY CHAMPIONSHIP.
In defeating Eeriot's F.P. at Partick by 6 points to 3 the West of Scotland brought off a fine performance. Though the visitors were without leading play- ers, the West's victory was "merited, as they adapted their play to suit the con- ditions, confining the game mostly to their forwards. Heriot's, on the "other hard, tried to develop the passing game, but it was too orthodox in execution as well as being difficult owing to the slip- pery condition of the ball. Two Border clubs lost heavily in Glasgow, Hawick to the High Schoolmen and Gala to the Academicals; indeed they were outplayed to-a quite unexpected extent. Watsonians scored heavily against Glasgow Univer aity, the speed and cleverness of the backs proving too much for the students. Stewart's College F.P., whose forwards characteristic fire and played with vigour and whose backs at last worked together in something like proper con- cert, sprung a mild surprise at Craig- lockhart in beating Edinburgh Univer sity. The latter were, however, handi capped by absences." Edinburgh Wander ers, although somewhat under strength, gained a signal victory over Royal High School F.P., whose backs failed them badly both in, defence and attack.

Scottish League results confirmed the generally accepted view as to how the positions at the end of the competition will be filled. Playing at home," the leaders, Rangers, won with comparative ease against St. Mirren, a competitor standing sixth from the top of the merit table. Even more emphatic was the ac complishment of Airdrieonians, who over latter's on the whelmed Motherwell ground, and as Hibernians lost one point and Celtic dropped another couple, the League competition at best is club show.
