H.M.S. “PEGASUS ” ARRIVES.

NAVAL SEAPLANE». CARRIER IN HONGKONG.

H.M.S. Pegasus in naval seaplane carrier, arrived in Hongkong from Singa- pore yesterday morning, and until night felf was the object of intense interest to passengers, especially Chinese, on pass" ing ferries.

The vessel, which is said to be the smallest of the seaplane carriers on the strength of the Navy, is constructed with a hangar on her main deck aft, from which yesterday morning, the tails of three seaplanes could be seen protruding.. By the early afternoon, one of the machines had been" brought out from its shelter, and hung over the water from a light lattice crate which pivoted out or ir as required.

The Pegas was originally commis- aioned in August, 1017, when she carried Short seaplanes and fighters for the Battle Cruiser Force. Subsequently she naisted in General Ironside's expedition against the Bolsheviks at Archangel, by carrying seaplanes and acting as mother ship to them.

Her present equipment of seaplanes consists of 6 Fairey 111D float aeroplanes, with Napier "Lion " engines of 450 h.p.. and a little scout 'plane.

The Pegneus is expected to remain in the Colopy until next year."

RETURN OF ADMIRAL LEVESON,

H.M.S. Hawkins, with Admiral Sir Arthur C. Leresos, .C.B., Commander. in-Chief, China Station, on board, re- turned to Hongkong from the North at noon yesterday.

The loss by Lieut. Rutherford, R.N., of jewellery and money, to the value of $166, from his cabin on H.M:S. Bluebell, has been reported to the police.

Mr. Beach, of the P.W.D., has report ed the loss of $350 in cash from his room in a Kowloon boarding-house.

CHARGE OF MURDER AGAINST COOLIE.

DEFENDANT SENT FOR TRIAL.

Before Mr. J. A. Fraser, at the Central Magistracy yesterday afternoon, Yeung, Chun, a coolie, was charged with the murder of Chan Yau, a cripple, in 'Con. naught Road West on October 18th.

Mr. T M. Hazlerigg conducted the case for the Crown.

It was alleged that the defendant struck Chan Yau on the head with a piece of wood, causing injuries from which he died on the following day.

An elderly Chinese stated in evidence that his attention was aroused by re- peated cries, and he saw the defendant hit the deceased several times with a piece of wood. The witness, shown a formidable wooden- billet, about a yard long, said that he could not swear that it was the actual piece of wood used, bat it was very similar..

The defendant was committed for trial

at the next Bessions.

Mrs... Harris Walker has reported to the police that while she was walking in alane leading to Lyttleton Road on Saturday morning, she was set upon by two men of the coolic class, who threw her down, kicked her, and made off with jewellery, worth - $100.
