The British team to play "America in the Walker Cup contest is as follows:
Mr. Cyril Tolley (England),, captain; Mr. Bristowe (Engand), Major C U. Hezlet (Ireland), L. and instant. (Scotland), Mr. Denys H. Kyle (Scot land), Mr. W. A. Murray (Scotland), arr. Robert Scott, jun. (Scotland), the Hon Michael Scott (England), Mr. Eustace Storey (England), and Mr. T. A. Tor ranes (Scotland).
It is proposed that the team should sail about the last week in August, thus Kiving them
fortnight in which to praebee. The match will take place on the Garden City Links. New York on September 12th and 13th, prior to the Caited States Amateur Championship, in which the members of the British team will take the opportunity of sumpeting, This, the fourth contest, will be dreided by four foursomes on the first day and by eight singles on the secund. America bus won all three matches, two in this Country (at Hoylake and at St. Andrews) and ance in America (National Links. Southampton).
The absence of several disdnguished players has weakened the team, and so the prospects of a British sucess are not as bright as we should like them to be. The choice of Mr. Talley as captain of the teath is excellent. Not only is he playing hetter and sounder golf than he has ever
hi done in his wonderful career, hut fighting spirit should be a source of in- spiration and encouragement to the men under his.
