South China met a picked team from the Rest of the League in no exhibition game on Monday. A record crowd atten- ded and they were rewarded with a good game.

Chinese householders seem to be unwill ing to let their houses to foreign tenants. The authorities should take notice.. Per- haps a remedy might be found if the Government were willing to advance money on easy terms to enable Portu guese citizens.to acquire their own houses. A WORTHY APPEAL A Committee of ladies of Hongkon and Maeno is örganizing a bazaar and a' convert to raise funds for the Church of St. Lawrence. The concert is to take place on the 20th inst., at the Teatro D. Pedro Y., and it is propceed to hold the bazaar on the 7th and 8th instant is to be hoped that a ready response will be the result.
