This warning declaration was made by Sir Eric Geddes at the annual meeting of the Federation of British ladustries in a presidential speech, in which he re ferred to the advent of the Labour Government to "power.

If the risks of investment, due to our political situation, are deemed to bo too great, people will invest elsewhere. Industry will suffer, employment will suffer, and the purchasing power of the home market will decrease.

I would say to whatever Government. is in power that the present position is one of extreme delicacy. Words or actions which in normal tires would scarcely ripple the surface of confidence now cause a storm.

It is a time for careful and cautions statesmanship for weighing every. action and every word, for great cour- age: but also for great patience. It is time when confidence should be fostered and stability encouraged. Declaring the federation to be a non- political organisation. Sir Eric Geddes offered its help experience, and infor mation in the sphere of industry to any Government that might be in power.
