General Ma Fu Hsiang's own troops started in pursuit of the run-away soldiers and killed many, amongst them two of the four directly responsible for the murder of Father Boonen. The ex- soldiers running away from the troops effected the capture of Rev. Father Ferdinand Van Praet, who lived at Ter- Osso, and whom they still hold as a pawn, knowing that the soldiers do not dare to attack them. for fear that the missionary might be killed.

These murderere now are willing to be renlisted in the army and that is what Rev. Father Do Wilde is now trying to arrange. Father De Wilde is now with Father Van Praet nad the Bandits at a place only 40 from Pao Tou-Chen, called Siso-Noor. Dr. Thompson was liberated from the brigands through Father De Wilde.
