AN APPEAL TO THE MEN.

Now that everybody dances to such un extent that dancing has become the usual appendage to a dinner, it is very odd, says John Blunt, a regular contributor to the Daily Mail how few people som to know bow to dance correctly.

There are only three dances danced with any frequency-the foxtrot, the waltz, and the blues-and nothing could well be simpler than their ordinary steps. and

The fearful and steps they perform are very impressive, but they bear about as much relation to up-to-date dan cing as the year before last's fashions do to the dress of today. A man who would not dream of appearing at a social function ansaitably attired is, severtheless, often quite content to daree in a manner which, from the dancing point of view, is prehistoric.

THE MEN'S FAULT.

Indeed, I think the fault is almost en- tirely with the men. Most girls seem to Know the modern style if their partner will give them a chance.

It must be remembered that dancing is of the few things left in which men have an advantage over women, in that women have to follow the staps which their partners choose.

This is an article in defence not only of dancing, but also of women. It fills me with distress to think of all the woman who nightly have to dance with more whose idea of dancing is, to say the least, rudi. mentary. And perhaps my solicitude haa been heightened by observing expressions of pain on the faces of my own partners perhaps. It is not a point I propose to dwell on.

As an advocate of dancing, I earnestly suggest that all dancing men should keep abreast of the art. Quite apart from their own enhanced pleasure, they will find a wonderful expansion in their popu- larity. A keen dancer who cannot dance is one of the most shunned people on carth. And rightly so.
