In tendering the felicitations of the Club to the crew, Capt. Mellows stated that it was an important event in the 1 27-Lon annals of parigation that auxiliary yawl should set out to make s trip three-quarters round the globe.
Capt. Kjaer replied, briefly thanking the members of the Shanghai Yacht Club for their many courtesies, and partica- larly for the letters of introduction.
Capt. Wikina, who, intende sailing soon to London on a small sloop, pro posed "Good Luck and bon voyage.' Messrs. C. E. Hall and H. E.. Middle. ton also proposed, toasts to the Danish mariners.
Those who sailed with Capt. Kjaer were Messrs. A. Ingwersen (mate), E. "Haugelung and P. N. Jensen (engineers), H. F. Venman (cook and steward)" and V. Bentsen ("jack of all trades"). They are all navigators, having been for years attached to the Great Northern "Telegraph Company's cable ship Store Norlike. In order to assume their pro por roles, all cast dice and abided by the decision of rate.
The first stop en route will be made at Amoy, from which place the little vessel will said for Manila. From Batavia the Shanghai's course wil. Be through the Sunda Straits into the Indian Ocean, and then to the Cocos and Rodrigues Talands, to Mauritius, and to Cape Town by way of Madagascar. Thereafter the course will be along the coast of Arjen to Europe.
The Shanghai is built after the style of a Danish viking ship, is of 27-tong and fitted with a motor engine,
