SIK HENRY WILSON'S ADVICE. Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson was entertained at the Hotel Coeit on April 25th by the Australian and New "Zilind Luncheon Club in London.
Colonel Sir James Allen, High Com- nissioner for New Zealand, padded in, in proposing the toast of Our Guest," said he hoped Sir Henry Wilson, auf of his wide experieure, would tell thegn. how Eit was wise for them to rely on "persent vonitions and to think that permanent

PORSIBILITY OF FUTURE WAR.
Sir Henry Wilson, in reply, said --- Sir James has asked me two questions. His first was, Are we certain that there is not going to be another war? The answer to that, as they say in the House of Commons, is in the negative.. I do not think that any reflecting person, sewing the state of the world at the present moment, can believe that we are in for a long period of profound peace. His second question was, Whether the Imperial authorities are satisfied that the co-ordination of the fighting forces of Great Britain and part of Ireland with the rest of the Empire is in an efficient state. I would have liked some three months ago, when I was Chief of the Staff, to have answered that question, but I am afraid if I did to-lay I would be poaching on the work which I know Lord Cavan is carrying out:
May I make my own position quite clear? I am an iuteuse Nationalist. I do not believe at this period of the world's history in internationalism." But I am a nation alist broad-based on the British Empire. (Cheers) We often hear of this united Empire of ours. It always scenis to me, in a sense, we are not united, we have no paper guarantees, and we are not an Empire in the old sense of the word. Some few years ago, the late Lord Cromer wrote that our Eripire was based on justice, righteousness, merdy, and truth. He did not add, as he might have added-nobody had a greater right to add-it was also based on the power inherent somehow or other in the people of our countries, the power to govern. In the execution of government it seems to me we carry out our destiny
