PARIB, March 20th.

Bags and gloves are two expansive items in dress, as so many are needed to live up to their role that they must coincide exactly with the style of the dress you are wearing. Black moiré silk is one of the best things for a bag: it goes with nearly everything. Long and narrow, short and fat, round and full, or just like to envelope, it can be seen at everywhere. Some of these bugs have choice fastenings of precious stones, others fold over and clap invisibly, hanging on the arm by a long double straps so that they are easy to carry when, dancing. These bugs in black silk have largely taken the place of the silver or gold chain bag, as most women prefer something less ruinous to the gloves than a chain.

Bags in calf skin, white and brown, are very amusing, shade bends, too, are chosen by many. Bunches of flowers are delightful for evening huge, as the stalks peen out and reveal a silk hagin which to hide perse, hand- kerchief and all the small trifies a woman likes to have by her side. Smaller aches of flowers to tack in the waist have a mirror sad powder-puff hidden away that only the Feather bags are dainty, owner can ånd. but more delightful still are the small hapl bags of crinoline straw edged with ostrich feathers that much the hat, the belt, and the sunshade as well, in some attractive colour to wear with a soft cream gozo.

Sartet leather, both patent and enif, is a cruse of the notment, for anything and every thing red is de riguer. Embossed leather with Chinese designs makes bags that are handsome to look at and delightful to have because the fittings inside are so practical. There's a pocket for every conceivable want, purse, notebook, and a looking gla too, a powder-puff and a tube of lip salve, an eyebrow pencil and small pot of rouge. All that is needed is the money to buy it. and icts more to fill it with afterwards.

Wide sleeves are made by the majority of dressmakers, but there are some who have taken the ball by the horn's und made them all tight for their nicest thedels, in soft materials as well as thick. For a time wide Aleeyes will prevail; there is no doubt about this, seeing they are cool and spacious, and are made in such transparent materials that the arm can be seen from all angles. Short sleeves, even in organdie and sum- mer silk frocks, are decidedly in the minority. When they do appear they are just a woo band, or set of small turks. Evening dresses often have long sleeves, sometimes when there is little to boast of in the way of bodice. Silk hee, and "mous seline de soie is chosen for dresses of metal tissue in very pale shades of the pastel. Ganatlet cuffs are still designed by one or two leaders of fashion, but they are only found on somewhat centric gowns. They are made in piqué, or Cashmere cloth, and look rather loud joined to a navy blue surge. A long sleeve of melium with often has a fairly deep band for a cuff that falls in two loops soine distance beyond the rest of the sleeve in lonely fashion. It seems lost in the world and looks very detached, and is liable to come in for many a acolding by getting dirty and spotty on the least provocation!

A full sleeve for evening that comes down to the wrist sometimes gets checked in ita flowing by an armlet of jet that holds it Brmly to the arm just above the elbow, whence it flows out again. The “glove" sleeve is quite a new feature and is most amusing. It comes down to the knuckles, Sitting fight over the band so far as is įgues. It stops just in time to show off one's rings and manicured nails, but obviates alto- gether the need for gloves, which is a con- sideration in these days when gloves are so Flear.

Fans are more varied in texture than form. The cobweb lace fan still holds its own; bigh, and wide, it bears a trimming, 80 large roses are often laid here and there on the top of a stem. Many have a soft full flounce that hangs over the top of the fan when it is open, and falls in a cascade when it is cloned. A fun of sequins in the same kind and colour is made to match a sequin dress.. In scarlet this is very smart, although, perhaps, a trife startling at first, but in night blue it in fascinating. Large and amall feathers are still used à good deal for fand, they make such a good contrast to a black evening dress when chosen in a vivid colour. Goose and duck quills, also, are seen; the spikey effect suits some people, but to others it is a hindrance to the success of their toilette, being rather overpowering,

Head-dresses grow more magnificat every day, not in value so much as in design. Feathers, abort and straight, or long and carling, are very much en evidence."
