LLOYD'S ANNUAL REPORT.
The annual report of Lloyd's Register of Shipping states that the new tonnage classed during the course of the year ended June 30th, 1991. shows considerable diminution, the figures reading 911 ves sels of 3,245.130 tons gross, equal to a reduction of 25 per cent. on those for the previous twelve months. It is note worthy, however, that notwithstanding this decreas. the total tonnage, classed by Lloyd, Register during the present year represents a higher percentage of the world's output than the average of previous years.
This declina, however, has been followed in recent months by further reductions on so extensive & scale as to indicate a slump in orders for new toanage without precedent in the history
