For the home gide E. J. R. Mitchell batted well and carried out his bat for 103. He was consistent and whilst be punished the leather to the extent of 11 boundaries it could not be said that he forced the batting. COMPANY MEETING. CHINA LIGHT AND POWER CO.,
(1910), LTD.
The third ordinary general meeting of this Company was held at the offices of Messrs. Shewan, Tomes & Co, general managers, on Saturday morning. Mr. R. G. Showan presided and there were also present: the Hon, Sir Paul Chater, members of the consulting committee) Mr. H. P. White and Mr. S. S. Perry Afessrs. R. Farrant, A. A. Cordeiro, A, A. Toppin, H. H. Tayler, F. M. Ellis, and Botelho, Tse Tuan Tai, F. J. Tavares, J. A. S. Ellis (shareholders) and Peon I Cha (acting secretary).
The CHAIRMAN said:Gentlemen,-"We have now to lay before you the report. ber 30th, which, with your permission,-we- and accounts for the year ended Septem will dispense with reading. With the balance of $192,873.02 at credit of proft and lose account we propose.

50,000.00 And 40 cents per new share... 40,000.00 and to place to the credit of bad and doubtful debts accounts $2,875.22 and we hope you will approve of this allocation of the profits.
Owing to labour and other difficulties at home, the new plant did not reach us patil long after it was due, and the new factory at Huk-Un was consequently not! completed until the end of September, In the meantime we had to do the best we could with our old engines, which could not cope with all the business we were offered, Our income also was materially affected by the reduction in our charge for, lighting, so that we were working at a considerable disadvantage throughout the yeaf But in spite of these handicaps, our earnings, show a slight increase, and, now that our new installation is att eracted and in full swing, with a good demand for both light and power, we have every reason to luck forward to a steady increase in our business in future,
With regard to the accounts there is nothing in them that calls for special remark, as they are set out in consider Pablo detail and speak for themselves. There will, however, be some changes to be made in the ensuing year as our assets Fwill include the new land at Hok-Un,; which we have obtained in exchange for the old factory, plus $10,000 to cover the old buildings which the Government take None of this affects the present accounts as we had not then completed the transfer of the old property, but after that is done we shall take the opportunity of re-adjusting the values of the land, buildings and machinery, which have all! "been more or less affected by the altern-: tions and additions necessitated "by the change of factory and the transfer of the old plant to the new site.
over.
.
It has taken n' good dent of money to effect the transfer of the factory and co purchase and greet the new machinery in addition to the cost of putting our main lices underground, and you will notice that to provide the necessary funds we had to borrow on debentures, to the ex- tent of 8638,484.50. However, our present capital expenditure is now at an end, and, as earnings increase, we shall be able to reduce our indebtedness accordingly. As for the future, I can say no more than that our prospects seem very good indeed, and, as Kowloon continues to develop, so should our business over there expand,
now propose that the report and accounts as presented be adopted and passed, and that the profit for the year be distributed as proposed. When that has been seconded, I shall be very pleased to Answer any questions from shareholders
Sir PAUL CHATER seconded and the re- port and accounts were adopted. "
Mr. H. H. TAYLEE proposed the re-elec tion of the Consulting Committee-Sir- Paul Chater, Mr. E. P. White, Mr. S. S. Perry and Mr. T. F. Hough.
Mr. A. A. CORDEIRO seconded and this was approved.
Mr. S. S. PERRY proposed that Messrs. Linstead & Davis and Mesars. Lowe, "Bing. ham & Matthews be re-elected auditors at remuneration of 8400 each, për annum. Mr. H. P. Waire seconded and the re solution was carried."
This concluded the business.
