SERVICE

The current issue of the P. & 0. Con monthly circular states that a through fortnightly service of mail steamers from London-is now in train for the convey ance of passengers, við Malta, Colombo and the Straita

kong, Shanghai, elements to Hong- and Yokohama,

and vice versa. The line will be served. chinfly by vessels of the Engber, Plassy and "Dongole class (8.000-9,000 tons). Freedom from the inconvenience of changing ships en route in conjunction with the superior arrangements

of the nowly assigned vessels ze

cabine and saloons will doubtless be appreciated by travellers. For the present there may, be occassional gaps in the fortnightly ser vice, as the

great delay, arising from.com tinued labour troubles, in recondition- ing the larger mail steamers of the com- pany's fleet prevents the e complete release from the India mail service of the steam- ern of the class above-named which are required fully to establish the direct China-Japan Line now projected.
