Power But, during the past twelve months, the trend of events has admittedly modified the situation, and an entirely new outlook how been created owing to the in ability of the United States to acepta mandato for an integral Armenia.
"The solution which seems nor to be most favoured în Conference cireles would give us an Armenian State consisting of, the Republic of Erivan and of three, weat ern vilayeta. On the other hand, Cilicia, according to the Anglo-French Agreements of 1918, falls within the French sphere of induence to the limits assigned by those agreements. That programme we have now adopted. We are, however, partiou larly desirous of drawing attention to the importance of the independent Armenian State and that French sphere of influence being contiguous. To mention but one of the many reasons for this, it "is essentin) that the Turkish, Nationalists should be confined behind the boundaries of Anatolia and isolated.
"We are hoping, of course, that France will consent to grant a frea pamaze for our economic needs across the French sphere to the Mediterranean coast, . This leads me to stress the necessity, on the other hand, of the new Armenian State also possessing an outlet to the Black Sea, in the shape of an Armenian port thero The heart of Armenia, Pan, Bitlis, Erze rum, must posseas such an outlet. It is now generally conceded that it is for every new State a vital necessity to possess an outlet to the sea. Indeed, any State lack ing such an outlet could not live. To uso a picturesque expression I once heard from that eminent jurist, M. de la Pradelle, a State in order to live requires maritime breathing opportunities. Recognising as we do the difficulties which must attend the selection of such an outlet, we are willing to leave the definite choice of our port to the Conference; for we are bound to take into consideration the fact that various in- terests must inevitably coincidą there. In any case, the fact should not be overlooked that the only port at present linked up with the interior of Armenia” by means of a road is that of Trebizond, Whatever the solution ultimately adopted, it is of in- portance that the Armenian State should, enjoy a free passage to this particolar pert

This exhibition will be held at the Agricultural Hall, London, from July 5th. to-July, 16th, and will be the first of an annual series. The exhibition "will" be strictly confined to the exhibits ́ ́of men's wear, woollens, worsteds and other materials for their manufacture..
An important feature will be the Cloth Hall, a large building on the right band side of the entrance, in which will be housed the exhibits of manufacturers of every description of Woollens and Cotton Fieoe Goods. The warehouseman or marker-up will therefore be afforded the opportunity of viewing the productions of the mills in a self-contained building and can visit these manufactures unin terrupted by displays of made up goods which are, from a buying point of of no interest to him;
The Central Hall and Central Galley-1 will be devoted to displays of mads-up goods, ready-to-wear clothing, shirts," hosiery hockwear, gloves, hats, boots, etc Already all the space in the exhibition is filled, and this fact is eloquent-proof of the enterprise of British manufactur ers. Local traders should make a point of instructing their agents in London to visit the exhibition if they cannot go themselves. Tickets can be obtained from the office of this paper without charge upon receipt of a stamped and addressed envelope. The organisers have arranged with Messrs. Thomas Cook & Son, who will use their best efforts to secure hotel accommodation for Overseas visitors.
