(THROUGH REUTER'S AGENCY.) ALLIES" ECONOMIC CONTROLI

Loshes, September 2nd Presiding at a dianer in London n the occasion of the conclusion of the Allied Maritime Transport Council, Lord Robert Cecil strongly appealed for a common Allied, control af all the Allied" resoras, which, he declared, would make the economie power of the Allies over: whelming. (Cheers.) A great deal had already been done. For example, the Wheat Executive bad not only removed the dan ger of starvation and guaranteed a fair distribution among the Allies, but it had immensely economised shipping by secur ing that each Ally got its supplies f from the dearest Allied source. For example, Italy got her supplies trom Ladia, while Great Britain got hers front America.

corn

After referring to the Allied Commit- tees dealing with food. munitions and raw materials. Lord Robert Cecil, em phasised the magnificent results of the united command on the battlefield. (Cheers.) It might not be possible to have an economic generalissimo, but the strength of the Allies would be prodigi ously, increased if they could only bring together in some similar fashion the whole of their economic resourcés.

Lord Robert Cecil concluded by suggest. ing that this great economic Alliance might be turned to the ages of peace after the war. (Cheers,)

CUTLER, PALMER & CO.'S

The Frroch. Italian and American Del-1. gates to the Conseil supported Lord Robert Cecil's appeal.
