CHINESE FAMILY DISPUTE. MILLION DOLLARS AT STAKE.

"A MONUMENTAL TRIAL" Yesterday, sitting in Original Jurisdic- tion, the Puisne Judge (Mr. Justion: Gompertz) gave judgment in an action, the trial of which extended over forty days, the sum involved amounting to a million dollars. The plaintiffs were Un Tak Kwong and another, and the defend- sats Un Ting Tsan and others.

Mr H E. Pollock, K.C., with Mr. Eldon Potter (instructed by Mr. d'Almada) appeared for the plaintiffs; and Mr. E. H. Sharp, K.C., with Mr. F. C. Jenkin (instructed by Mr. V. L. Shenton) appeared for the defendants.

In the course of his judgment, which took an hour to deliver, his lordship said this was a claim by two of the surviving sons of Un Chin Lung against the surviv ing legal representatives of Un Hsin, alios Un Kwok Hi, another sun; for n declaration that in a document executed hy him in 1887 he became trustee for him. self and his eight brothers, or the child- ren of such of them as were dend, of one-half share in certain Chinese basi-.
