A SUCCESSFUL MAIN ATTACK“
In his dispatch dated November 1st to the Secretary of State for War, Genoral
Sir John French says.
The close accord and co-operation which bas always existed between the Com- mandor-in-Chief of our Allies and myself has been maintained, and I have had con stant meetings with General Joffro, who has kept me informed of his views and intentions, and explained the successive methods by which he hopes to attain his ultimate object.
After full discussion of the military situa tion a decision was arrived at for joint action, in which I acquiesced.
