This work consisted of taking up and relaying with iron girders, in place of the old wooden beams, the whole of the main floors of the gedowns, and is an actual improvement to the property, as wo calculate that the addi- tional weight the floors will now be able to carry-will materially increase our storage and carning capacity. On the outbreak of hostilities our godown, busi- ress showed signs of falling off, and we therefore took that opportunity of put- ting the work in hand and are pleased to say that at this date it is practically fuished Our earnings have, of course, muffered, but in spite of that we have a very good account to lay before you, and trust that, the benefit of this expenditure will show itself in improved carnings during the prosent year. The godowns were, in fact, too cheaply built by the former owners, but are now first-class warehouses in every respect. After pro viding for these aprovements we aro able to pay our usual dividend of 7 per ount, and put $1,000 to the Reserva Fand, which will then stand at $70,000.
