ATHLETICS IN CANTON.
The athletes in Canton will not be able to hold a track meet this month, says the correspondent of a Peking contemporary, as the Government has refused to sanction the meet on the ground that the city is still under martial law and that a meet of this sort would naturally draw a crowd bigger than the polico fores can handle. Among the students in the several schools of the city there are found good material to represent Canton in the Fon Eastern Olympiad to be held in Shanghai next May. Although they were prevented from holding a larger meeting, the athletes arc having inter-school competitions just the same Association football and volley ball are the favourite games played by Cantonesa students.
