Neuralgia, Nervous Breakdown -

THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 8rm, 1914.

NURSE HALL, c/o Mrs. Bassett, Commercial Place, Landport, Portsmouth, Eng., writes: "I was suffering from nervous breakdown with Internal Neuralgia, when I began a course of Phosferine. After having 1aken it for three or four months, I felt better than I had done for two years previously, and consider it the best tonic I have ever tried. As a remedy for all nervous disorders I think there is nothing to equal Phosferine, especially as I was given up by more than one doctor previous to taking Phosferine, and can now say I am perfectly well and strong, and have taken nothing else."

No other medicine has received such absolute proof of its extraordinary properties in Testuring Shattered Constitutions, and in giving back to the prematurely aged New Life and Energy.

COMPANY MEETING.

CHINA MUTUAL LIFE INSURANCE

COMPANY, LIMITED.

The sixteenth annual meeting of the China Mutual Life Insurance Co., Ltd., was held at the offices of the Company Mr. C. R. at Shanghai on July 29th. Burkili prosided, and he was supported by Mr C. Stepharius, Mr. A. M. Marshall, Mr. G. M. Wheolock, Mr. H. P. Wadman (directors), Mr. 8. B. Neill, manager and actuary, Mr. J. K. Tweed, manager and secretary, and Mr. L. E. P. Janes, legal adviser. - The attendance. represented 4,120 shares.

The secretary having read the notice convening the meeting,

The CHAIRMAN said: On the question of the accounts I feel that there is very little for me to say, as they are in the form prescribed by the Assurance Com- panica Act (1909) England, and are easily followed. The amount of applica- tions received during the year, namely, Tls... 8,012,430, must be considered satisfactory in view of the general depression in trade which has existed and still exists in China, the Philippines, the Malay States, and India. In spite of this depression and the ever-increasing, and in some cases extravagant competi tion, your directors have great satisfac- tion in being able to again record a further decreage of 2.4 per cent in the ratio of expense to the premium income. Owing to the competition for invest- mants, due to the heavy accumulation of money in Shanghai, number of our mortgages were repaid and transferrett to other investors who were satisfied with less margin than we consider essential. Your directore while regretting that they were unable to retain this business did. not feel justified in changing their conservative methods of investing the The above and Company's funds,

competition for other investments led 10 our having for a considerable part of the year a large sum of money in the banks carning only current account interest, and our interest return has thorúfoto suffered. We can, however, congratulate ourselves on the fact that our investment account shows a very satisfactory result. Not only is it unnecessary for us to add to the Investment reserve account but as you will have seen in the accounts a considerable profit has been made during This result the year on this account. must be very satisfactory to you in view on their of the melancholy reports investments issued by the Home Com- panies, most of whom have had to provide for very heavy depreciation in their Stock Exchange securities. We have therefore made a profit during the year of Tis. 180,078 which we think must be considered satie factory. Of the surplus we propose to, distribute Tis. 115,292, of which Tls. 110,292 will be distributed in bonuses to policy holders and Tls 5,000 to share holders, and carry forward Tls. 208,835. with the anunt of la connection the dividend paid to shareholders I to the would call your attention restraint the shareholders have again exercised for the benefit of the policy- holders in only taking Tls. 5,000. Under the Articles of Association the share. holders, were entitled to over Tla. 11,000. I will now make a few remarks on the subject of claims. The chief object of an Insurance Company as far as the policy- holdere are concerned is the payment of elaims, and I think we can claim that our Company has very fully carried out its mission in this respect. During the year including WE have paid in claims, bonuses, no less a sum than Tls. 1,000,000 Lepting siyang tingaf our entire auseta. In the we have not aloue course of the year replaced this sum but have added a further Tls. 300,000 to our Assurance Fund, As Chairman of the oldest Life Insur- ance Company established in China 1 feel that the attention of the Chinese Government right profitably be called to the recent failure of a Life Insurance Company in Shanghai. A great deal of the loss which this failure has caused could have been prevented had the for Chinese Government legislated Insurance on similar lines to those taken by every other great country. Our near strict very neighbour, Japan, has

No questions were asked. The following resolutions were then adopted:

THE BLOOD is the LIFE of the FLESH

and

Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills-What they are what they do. Their Four Principal Ingredients.

It is an established fact that all diseases spring from one source, namely: Impurity of the Blood. Therefore our strength, health, and life depend upon the vital fluid. When the various passages become clogged, and do not act in perfect harmony with the different functions of the body, the blood loses its action, becomes thick, corrupted, and diseased, thus causing pains, sickness, and distress of every name; our strength is exhausted; and if Nature is not assisted in throwing off the stagnant humours, the blood will become choked and cease to act, and thus our light of life will be extinguished. How important, then, that we should keep the various passages of the body free and open, and if assistance is necessary to have at hand that invaluable remedy, Dr. MORSE'S INDIAN ROOT PILLS, manufactured from plants and roots which grow around the mountain cliffs in Nature's garden, for the health and recovery of diseased man.

The second is a plant which is an EXPECTORANT that opens and unclogs the passage to the lungs, and thus in a soothing manner performs its duty by throwing off the and other humours from the lungs by copious spitting.

From the foregoing it is shown that Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills not only enter the stomach, but become united with the blood, for they find the way to every part, and completely root out and cleanse the system from all impurity, and the life of the body, which is the blood becomes perfectly healthy; consequently all sickness and pain are driven from the system, for they cannot remain when the body becomes pure and clean.**

Dr. Morse's INDIAN ROOT Prits are an efficient, reliable, and safe remedy placed on the market at a price within the reach of all. The Pills being sugar-coated, are pleasant to take, and retain their full medicini properties. They tire puched in amber-coloured bottles--not in cheap wooden or pasteboard boxes-and are thus always fresh and an. impervious to moisture, unaffected by climatic conditions, and do not deteriorate by keeping an all liquid medicines do.
