Who is responsible for the destruction of the fern-laden, or formerly fern-laden hank, which formed, only a few days ago, such a picturesque flank to Battery Bath, and a delightful relief to the heavy-looking money banks opposite of course sumo unskilled Chinese labourers are strenuously engaged in the act of spoilation but they are merely acting upon the dictates of some one else Presumably the object is to introduce some new plants to the bank, but surely the digging of such huge holes and the whole-hearted trampling down of stately looking ferns are not necessary evila in the scheme? There were many admireds circumstances force one to deal with the bank in the past tense of this set slope, and they are sorely hit at the manner in which the one time richly adorned rackers has been desecrated.
