The product of 1912 will, on the whole, probably be equal to that of 1911, but the alcoholic strength of the Wines being much inferior to that of the previous crop, the result will be a greatly reduced quantity of Brandy made, and the quality does not promise to be at all exceptional, although softness and rich ness in flavour is a characteristic that may be looked for in Wines resulting in low strength.,

Gratifying reports have been received with regard to the Vintage of 1912 in the Douro district, the musts showing a high degree of saccharine, with good colour and bouquet. The quantity of Wine produced has been slightly above the average and considerably in advance of last year's yield. The shipments of Wine from Oports during the first nine months of 1912 have been 89,000 pipes, as against 83,000 pipes in 1911..

The musts. show a high degree of density and should develop into fine full-bodied Wines, and the quantity may be estimated at an increase of about 40 per cent. as compared with last year's crop.
