Only a fow chests were purchased from the Chinese dealers for export to northern ports by some of the foreigners, Clearances during the fortnight about 134 chests, comprising of Patna New, 72 chests, Patna Old 22 chests, Benares New. 20 cbests, and Benares Old, 11 chests, Shipments, 25 chests of Patna Now, 10 chest of Patna Old, 10 chests of Bonares Now, and 20 chests of Benares Old-in all about 60 chests. Unsold Stock :-Patus
866 chests, New Patna Oki 495 chests, Benarus New 273 cheats, and Benures Old 290 rbextsin all about 1,924 chests. Sold but uncleared stockPatne Now 639 chests, Patna Old 158 chests, Benares Now 100 chests, and Benares Old 112 chestsin all about 1,000 chests, Market closes quiet, Closing quota- tons:-Patna New, $3,600; Patrin Old, $3,500; Bontros Now, $3,710. YARN-During the first part of the fort- might under review, owing to decline in mate- of exchange on India, the Chinese dealers came forward in the market and purchased a good quantity in the hope of a further Recline and a rise in the rates of yarn, A good business is reported during the early part of the fortnight. Later exchange began to rise, and buyers kept aloof from making further purchases, and market closes steady at quotations. Sales during the fortnight are computed at about 7,460 bales, comprising 100 bales of No. 6s, 3,775 bales of No. 10s, 1,600 bales of No. 12, 325 hates of No. 16s, and 1,650 bales of No. 20k. Unsold stock is estimated at about 16,000 takes. Uneluared stock, about 34,000 bates. The fortnightly sales are as under :-
