Some of the very prettiest dresses of the present season art made with a veiling of made underdiess. Take the following as an instance. A thin soft grey silk is cut square on the bodice, the sides coming halfway up from shoulder to neck, and finished with bands of wide cream coloured are, which meet at the waist, gathered into the waist of the fold-over back and front, and, also in front, are
continued in a tine down the contre bodice, and a black satin belt hid the the hom This appears to describe an meeting of the two parts. Another voile gown, the veil of thin diaphanous black. It fits the normal waist, and has basques about six inches deep, cut away in front and made with a belt of its own material about an inch and a-half wide, which crosses in front with swo pointed ends.
THE SMART COATEE. These little coats are to be seen in every imaginable colour. With a shot maure und pale blue gowr. one in mauve turned back with pale blue is worn; with a white gown an eau-de-nál silk coatee is chosen, and, more startling than could be expect ed from negatives of colour, is a gown in black gauze frilled round the hem, and worn with a coat of white silk, bordered with black and finished at the neck with a deep collar of Cluny lace over black. This last gives the whole a most dis- tinguished look. A pale gray voile gown with long panier tunic has the bodice in soft Liherty silk crossed over upon blouse of the most any white silk mustin arranged in fichu fashion, and with sleeves of the same.

The idea is to cover the bair during the various processes of the toilette, but the cap has been found so dainty and pretty that it is often worn when the toilette is quite complete, and it forms a charming adjunct of the break- fast table. Many fashionable women atilise pieces of old lace for the trimming of these caps, but as a rule imitations are used, all of the most delicate description.
