There is a great taste for black and white, and one gown in black voile edged with a very narrow frill was worn over white silk. There was not much fullness, but quite sufficient to make notable the abscace of the hobble.

Some of the very prettiest dresses of the present season art made with a veiling of made underdiess. Take the following as an instance. This last gives the whole a most dis- tinguished look. A pale gray voile gown with long panier tunic has the bodice in soft Liherty silk crossed over upon blouse of the most any white silk mustin arranged in fichu fashion, and with sleeves of the same.

The idea is to cover the bair during the various processes of the toilette, but the cap has been found so dainty and pretty that it is often worn when the toilette is quite complete, and it forms a charming adjunct of the break- fast table. Many fashionable women atilise pieces of old lace for the trimming of these caps, but as a rule imitations are used, all of the most delicate description.
