THE CALAMITY OF FEBRUARY

The following amusing letter appeared last month in the London Daily Mail:-
In the hope that they may stimulate people to think, I submit a few reflections and calculations I have made on the sub- ject of the approaching calamity of Feb- ruary 20th. I am not habitually a pessi- mist, but 365 days in the year are as many as my constitution can stand, and the thought of another day passes the limits of human endurance.

For the elders there will have been another day in which to work with nothing to get, another day of misery and regret,
