THE FRAVELING-HAT--

Much of one's comfort depends on the shaps of bat chosen for travelling wear, and now the choice is wide, nay, limitless, it is easy enough to procure one that suite the shape of the head and one's inclinations in the matter of rosting in the train. The Csubeen, an exact imitation of the stage Irishman's hat, is a good shape. to ghoose, since it may be crushed in any direction, and completely recover with a tonal er two. Trimmings should not be abundant on the travelling hat. A ribbon round the crown is quite saffi ient. The girl who wears a large hat may look very pretty, but she is herself inconvenienced by ito gag, and is a cause of inconvenienco to many. On board ship, no doubt, it forms a very acceptable shade from the glare of the sun, which necer seems worse than at sea. Perbaps it was for some euch reason as this that

our ancestrosses inventod the "ugly," the frightful gauged silk shades which they fastened on orar the fronts of their poke bonnets in order to protect their complexions and their eyes from too fierce a sun, The small toque which fastens on with two pins of moderate length is very dainty and comfort. able for travellers, but it is well to remember that in foreign cities the heat and glare are Feson greater than is usual at home; and to pro- vide oneself with a obaly hat-among one's lug- gago is an absolute necessity..
