Mrs. Gaunt has certainly aucceeded in hiding her secret very woll, and the reader is scarcely prepared for the daousment which draws asidỡ the vell from the final mystery sad reveals the unsuspected lorer of a serving maid as the perpetrator of the successive mirters.
