THE CHARLOTTE CORDÂY REVIVAL, Ono essential of fashion at present seems to be that it shall by drawn from French history at me period round about the Revolution. Paris is now reviving the Charlotte Corday styles, perhaps fearing that the Directoire would besoms monotonous without some variation. The contrast is very great between the simpla dehn and mob cap fashions and the setounding luxury of the Directoire dresses to which we have besome accustomed. Young girls are parti cularly well suited by the former, more specially if they have the rare type of taos which locks its best

AUTYAN MODES,

The Directoirs will certainly be with us still this autumn, but we may see it rather modified. It is particularly a mode for moft and drooping materials, and the sticker fabrios of automa do not land themselves in such variety to the long and clinging lines or do the muslins and gansas of the summer. Looking farther ahedi still, it would not be surprising if next year found as garbed with the utmost simplicity. Fashion is prons to these volta-faces. But for the present, our autumn frooks will simply be a little less wonderful than one summer ones. They will have long sleeves, coals very heavy with braid, and very high collars.
