There are ten of them-large oinvangin—the work of thirty years' depicting different soenos in that glorious fight, painted by a master 12hand, bimself a seaman and an Italian Naval Officer. Nothing like those pictures has ever beau painted, except, perhaps, the fine one by Stanfield, which hangs in the United Servico Clab, and I think most Naval. Officers, will agree with mo that no one else could produce such work. The way there grand old skips fleat upon the water could only be drawn cor- roolly by a sailne, and he a man-o'-war's man, The colour of the sea alec is exactly what I bare observed after 56 years' experience.

Now to business-The price for the set of *ton is £20,000-x-large sam,, but not at sil too: much. When I think of the enormous supe paid for a single picture, like, for instance, the "Velasquez," it does seem to me extraordinary that some wealthy Englishmnu does not buy these outright, and present them to the College at Dartmouth where they would be well bestow- od and gratefelly appreciate! by all egilera- old and young. We naval officers are not in position to buy them, but I feel sure that post of us who could afford it would willingly anb. soribs, according to our means, to keep them in this Country. I know that the Chavalior himself would prefer it, but he cannot afford to keep them much longer in the faos of urgent offers from the other side of the Water.
It has been suggested that wither the "Victory" or the Painted Hall at Greenwich" would be a suitable place for these pictures but
my opinion, neither of them would be so suitable as the Dartmouth College. There is no room nor light on board the oki "Victory" and the pictures would be ruined by damp; comparatively few people would see them at Greenwich, whereas al Dartmouth, they would inspire the cadets and remind them of the glorious history of the Navy, upon which the greatness of England depauds,
In conclusion, I earnestly hope that he maiter will be taken up by some public-spirited man, in order to preserve for thie Conatry, the collection of pictures an ghly depicting England's greatest victory.I lure the honour to be, Sir,
Your nost ob dient servant, Admiral Sra WILLIAM R. KENNEDY, KOB.
